Directive on Waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE)

To prevent the generation of electrical and electronic waste and to promote reuse, recycling and other forms of recovery in order to reduce the quantity of such waste the directive 2002/96/EC of the European Parliament on waste electrical and electronic equipment has been established. The aim is to minimize waste and improve the environmental performance of economic operators involved in its management.

The ECODESIGN Team developed in an research project the EEG PILOT. This softwaretool mention first information over the frameworks of the directives WEEE and RoHS and gives target group, validity and deadlines for reports. This tool helps product developers to find suitable strategies and measures in order to improve its product in such a way that it corresponds to the requirements of the WEEE and the RoHS directive (link see below).
