Data entry Assistant

  1. link opens in new window Raw material production: The relevant data about the raw material is entered here. In our example this is the PS for the cover and the paper insert. The individual materials are assigned to a defined material group. Every material contained in the product has to be classified. The ECODESIGN Assistant supports you: clicking on the question mark symbol shows you a material list and an explanation of the corresponding material classes.
  2. link opens in new window Manufacturing: The production process for each part or component has to be described. On the one hand it needs information about the energy consumption and on the other hand about the waste. Deficient products, production volume and purchased parts need to be included.
  3. link opens in new window Distribution: here the transportation channels are analysed. The cover is produced in Asia which means long transport routes.
  4. link opens in new window Use: In this data form the frequency of use, the material and energy consumption and the waste during use have to be entered. The frequency of use of the CD cover is assumed with 50 times a year.
  5. link opens in new window End of life: Information about disposal and recycling has to be entered here. The product is entirely combusted with the household waste. In case of more complex products it is necessary to think of reasonable ways of dismantling and recycling.

The Assistant proposes various recommendation strategies for product improvement for the CD cover.
