Verpackung Blumentopf

A conventional packaging...

What are others doing?

As a basis we are analysing a packaging available on the market. The flower pot is bubble wrapped with a foil made out of polyethylene and then put in a cardboard box. The seeds are added in a small plastic bag.

To be able to fulfill the defined requirements and to design the packaging in an innovative and environmental way, we use the ECODESIGN PILOT and its checklists. Therefore first improvement ideas will be generated.

To find ideas you can rebuild the reference packaging, see packaging.pdf for a layout of the cardboard box: download, print, cut and clue it together. Which ideas come up when doing this hands-on? Which design changes do you suggest?

On the following pages we will show you how you can use the ECODESIGN checklists to find ideas for optimising the packaging.

Question: Does the reduction of the material input have a high improvement potential?
No, because both materials are disposed of in the waste
incinerating plant.
No, because packaging is not a big topic any more.
Yes, because the new production of packaging materials
is very resource intensive.
Yes, because a small material input influences the overall
environmental performance evaluation in a positive way.
