The intention of the WEEE Directive (Directive 2002/96/EC on waste electrical and electronic equipment) is to reduce the amount of hazardous substances in waste. The underlying purpose is to promote the avoidance, recovery and risk-free disposal of waste.
WHO is affected by the WEEE Directive?

By means of an Internet-based Directives validity check, the "WHO" gateway will assess whether you, being a manufacturer, retailer or an importer, are among those actually affected by the WEEE Directive.

WHAT are the compulsory obligations according to the WEEE Directive?

The WHAT section is a digest of the Directive's subject matter. The requirements of WEEE - what needs to be done? - are presented in an apprehensible form. A classification according to product categories adds to the clear and consistent layout.

WHEN is the deadline for full compliance with the requirements of the WEEE Directive?

This section presents time limits for required measures to be taken and reports to be submitted.

How can I make sure that my product meets these requirements?

Strategies and measures aimed at the implementation of the Directive are provided in the form of check lists which need to be worked over to provide results in the form of improvement suggestions.
