Recycling technologies
On an industrial level there are recycling technologies for the following materials:
- a) Metals: mainly Fe, Cu, Al and noble metals but also for other non-ferrous metals.
- b) Minerally materials like glass (incl. cathode ray tube) and concrete e.g. for washing machines
- c) Recycling of plastics is mainly carried out for PP, PE, PS and ABS.
At present, most of the plastics from waste of electric and electronic equipment are recycled by thermal recovery by incineration. Recycling plants for plastics from packaging are already in use, for plastics from electronic scrap there are plants in construction.
