Selective treatment - depollution

WEEE-Directive <- Implementation, "HOW" <-

Providing for an easy identification of components which contain harmful substances

It is essential to label components which contain harmful substances correspondingly in order to facilitate their removal. To provide for an efficient removal and treatment of components which contain harmful substances or fluids, such parts must be readily and quickly identifiable. Standardized, readily visible and legible labeling is a way to meet this requirement.

Providing for an easy removal of components which contain hazardous substances

A non-polluting disposal of components which contain harmful substances is only feasible if such substances can be separated from the remaining components after use. This calls for an easily accomplishable extraction of the components in question, which can be ensured by provident structural solutions. Examples of such measures are:

  • a structural design of the casing which allows for an easy and quick access to the harmful substances contained,
  • readily visible marking of components which contain harmful substances,
  • easily separable connections,
  • provisions which allow the use of standard tools for removal.

Providing for and facilitating the removal of hazardous fluids

Structural solutions which allow for a simple and safe removal of fluids need to be devised and evaluated. Examples of such solutions are:

  • structural design of a point of access for the removal of fluids which is easily accessible - if possible, without intermediate steps(casing - components - disassembly of modules, cover removal)
  • easily separable connections,
  • provisions which allow the use of standard tools for removal.
