Do you supply sufficient information with respect to relevant, product-specific features to afford proper recovery and treatment?

In which form will relevant information be made available to treatment facilities? What is relevant data, with regard to contained substances, components and their location? Which recovery systems are recommendable?

Approach to assessment:
  1. Relevance:
Rate the relevance of the assessment question with a view to your product. (10...very important for my product; 5...less important for my product; 0...not relevant for my product).
  2. Fullfilment:
Estimate the fulfilment of the assessment questions using one of the four possible answers (yes / rather yes / rather no / no); the additional questions support understanding of the assessment question and need not be answered.
  3. Priority:
Select ECODESIGN tasks with high priority (P) and continue only with these.
  4. Idea for Realization:
Find ideas to realize these ECODESIGN tasks. The content of the learning part with its examples shall assist you in doing that.
  5. Save:
Save the checklist to document the ECODESIGN assessment.

Affixing the mark

The symbol which indicates a separate collection of electrical and electronic equipment - the crossed-out wheeled bin - shall be affixed visibly, legibly and indelibly to prevent waste equipment from being disposed of together with household waste. As a rule, the mark is to be affixed on the device itself. If the device is too small to affix the symbol of separate collection directly, the mark may be printed on the packaging, on the instructions for use or on the warranty certificate.

Preparing information for treatment facilities

If repair and treatment facilities require information on the various components and materials contained in electro equipment and on the location of hazardous substances and preparations, such information must be supplied. Manufacturers must make this information available, be it in the form of manuals, or in electronic form (e.g. CD ROMs, online services).

Preparing information for users

Information on means of returning and collecting EEE waste can be made available either via a printed medium or on the Internet. Furthermore, users are to be encouraged to actively participate in the separate collection and returning of EEE waste. Manufacturers need to supply the following information, e.g. as part of the instructions for the device's use:
