ECODESIGN EEG PILOT

Motivation

Information <-

The EU has passed two Directives - WEEE and RoHS - with the intention to contain the mounting volumes of electrical and electronic scrap and to underline manufacturer responsibility. Producers of electrical and electronic devices now face new challenges, since they are required to accept incoming scrap devices and assume responsibility over their appropriate recovery and recycling. The intention here is to provide incentives toward an ecologically sound product design which comprehensively embraces aspects of waste recycling and disposal from the start. Bans aim at a restriction in the utilization of certain hazardous substances.
