Call for participation in the Handbook of Sustainable Engineering

Academicians, researchers and industry practitioners are invited to participate in the Handbook of Sustainable Engineering and to contribute chapters to this Handbook on important areas, concepts, and developments in the field.

The Handbook of Sustainable Engineering aims to provide a comprehensive reference to the practise of sustainable engineering. The volume will present academic research results and practical examples of successful implementation of sustainable engineering solutions. We hope to present through this work a joint platform for academicians and industry practitioners to join and help develop solutions to support sustainable development. A fuller discussion of the volume’s focus and areas covered is provided in Aims & Scope, manuscripts will be received and peer-reviewed in 2008 and early 2009.

ECODESIGN Information platform

The Austrian ECODESIGN Information platform is running since 1996 operated by the ECODESIGN Team at the Institute for Engineering Design, Vienna University of Technology. The principle idea was to collect interesting information and links about ECODESIGN and make it accessable to a broad audience.

Platform Overview

• Introduction Here you will find general information and learning possibilities about Ecodesign and about the ECODESIGN team (members, projects, books, ect.). Additionally a mailing list, a webblog and a calender of events are available for communication.
• Research Here you can find information on universities and research centers where education and research within the topic of Ecodesign is taking place. Also a list of research and funding programmes is available. Specific research results from the actual research program "factory of tomorrow" are introduced.
• Methods Under Methods information, links and tools for implementing Ecodesign are considered: Ecodesign in 12 steps, ECODESIGN Toolbox, Life Cycle Analysis, etc. In addition frequently used methods in product development like TRIZ, QFD and FMEA are listed.
• Implementation In this area you will find practical information which can be useful for implementing Ecodesign. On the one hand you will find examples of successful realized projects and on the other hand you will find information on laws, labels and consulting companies which help realizing Ecodesign onto your product.
