Environmental Information

Environmental information makes an important contribution to the raising of environmental awareness and to the shaping of opinions on the environment. Every day a pool of experts from the Umweltbundesamt makes available innumerable environmental data for the public. Publishing environmental data is the last step in a long chain of necessary activities, starting with the selection of a method, followed by analysis, calculation, measuring, testing and inspection, as well as the standardisation, editing, archiving and finally, the preparation and assessment of data. An important element is a well-functioning network: a large number of data are collected in intensive cooperation with the Federal Provinces. High-quality, independent and competent environmental information, with the latest state-of-the-art technologies and testing methods, is an important basis for the future.

International environmental information are also provided by the UNITED NATIONS INDUSTRIAL DEVELOPMENT ORGANIZATION (UNIDO).
